One-Two Punch

Eating healthy can feel complex. It doesn’t need to be complicated or confusing. The ONE-TWO PUNCH (OTP) method shows you how to make it SIMPLE, UNDERSTANDABLE and DOABLE — without measuring, without counting, without tracking, without eating special foods and without stressing. This is a long-term, sustainable method for wellness.

You can apply it ANYwhere, at ANY age, ANY ethnicity, ANY city, ANY country, ANY restaurant. OTP will teach you how respond to your body when it’s going to BURN the food you give it, BALANCE your protein and carbohydrate every time you eat and BECOME a healthy weight and have a healthy relationship with food.

Burn

Think of your abdominal area as an incinerator. When the incinerator lid is open (when you’re hungry), your body will BURN and use anything you put in it. When you feel hungry, it’s your body’s way of indicating you need fuel and it will BURN it. Sensing hunger requires mindfulness. Before you reach for something to eat: stop, take a deep breath and ask yourself, “Why am I eating? Am I physically hungry?” If you are hungry, eat slowly and pace yourself in order to sense the other side of hunger; fullness.

Balance

BALANCE protein and carbohydrate by having a fist-size serving of a carbohydrate and a fist-size serving of protein every time you eat. This BALANCE of protein and carbohydrate creates the perfect “One-Two Punch.” Carbohydrate without a protein anchor can spike blood sugar levels and leave quickly, leaving you hungry again (sooner) for more carbohydrates. Protein slows the entrance of carbohydrates into the blood and the BALANCE keeps you satisfied longer.

Become

Now it’s time to put it all together. BECOME is putting into practice the first two components, BURN and BALANCE.  It is the practice of sensing hunger, balancing protein and carbohydrate, and choosing the options that are most helpful to you and the circumstance. Practice is a verb – it’s doing. To BECOME is an active process, not the end goal we achieve. As you practice the concepts of BURN and BALANCE you’ll develop a healthy lifestyle that works for you – both physically and mentally.

Easy and doable! There are so many diets, health plans, and ways of eating in this world that is it so confusing on what is really the right thing to do. The book takes all of that and simplifies it. This book is AWESOME!!! This book is an awesome resource for people who have struggled with eating healthy, managing body weight and understanding what eating plan works best for them! Claudia is an expert in field of nutrition and has the background/experience to help you with healthy eating. As a registered dietitian, I find this content to be super solid! Claudia has terrific references to back up her words – which makes this approach scientifically sound. Claudia also has a fun, casual, easy to read approach to her writing that make the book enjoyable to devour. The photos are AMAZING!!! The colors, layout and overall look are so appealing - making it fun to read through. This is not a short term eating plan or a gimmick - but a lifelong approach to eating healthy that is sustainable and realistic. You can (and should!) eat all of your favorite foods! Health made simple. Forget all the nonsense you have been fed your entire life on diet. This book simplifies everything, takes the guilt out of pleasure foods, and is actually do-able.
